Company History
Larry and Marilyn Fleis and her father, Charlie Lark, established Lark Lawn & Garden, Inc. in 1974.
Upon Charlie's retirement Larry and Marilyn became the sole owners. In 1981 Larry hired his first full-time employee, his brother Marc. Throughout the years the business grew from a garage into a 2300 sq. ft. building complete with a showroom, parts area, office and service shop. In March of 1997, with 29 years of service, Larry retired from his position of Captain at the Traverse City Police Department. At this time, with three reliable full-time employees and Larry the store made the big move one mile down the road to its current location.
The newly built 11,750 sq. ft. building located on the corner of M-37 South and Norton Rd. was a location that Larry had his eye on for several years and had purchased five years prior to the move. Not only did the move enlarge the store physically but also financially. The number of employees quickly rose from 3 to 11.
In July of 2004 we celebrated our 30th year by opening a second location in downtown Cadillac.
